Description

This powerful diptych, Scintilla 1 & 2, is a masterful exploration of contrast and texture. The artist builds up complex layers of deep, cool colours, moody teals, greys, and near blacks, that create a sense of immense depth and mystery. It is against this dramatic background that the ‘scintillas’, sparks of pale pink, peach, and creamy white, ignite.

This high contrast colour scheme immediately draws the eye, suggesting fleeting moments of insight, inspiration, or light breaking through darkness. The heavily textured impasto technique gives the surface a sculptural, organic quality, making each piece a tactile as well as a visual journey. Displayed together, they create a compelling dialogue of energy and shadow; apart, each stands as a potent statement of raw, expressive force.
