Vendor Biography
Hi there, I am Annika Bates, a South African fine art graduate
specializing in various mediums to keep my practise
fresh and engaging.
My work is a celebration of whimsy, nostalgia and the
quiet charm of everyday life. I am drawn to storytelling
through illustration, using anthropomorphic animals to
capture small, relatable moments. Each piece is infused
with a sense of warmth and curiosity, inviting viewers to
pause and find their own narratives within the details.
I work across multiple mediums including printmaking,
watercolour, charcoal, collage and ink, allowing me to explore
different textures and techniques. Printmaking, in
particular, provides a tactile quality that adds character
and depth to my work, while illustration allows me to create
expressive, engaging compositions.
My background in early childhood development informs
my approach to art, ensuring that my work resonates with
both children and adults alike. Whether designing greeting
cards, homeware or original artworks, I strive to create
pieces that are timeless – art that sparks joy, invites storytelling,
and finds a home in the everyday lives of those
who connect with it.
