Telkom Tower, Cilliers Str

Description

Formally known as the John Vorster Tower and colloquially referred to as the Telkom Tower. This iconic tower was commissioned in 1973 by the Public Works Department for the Department of Posts and Telegraphs (Telkom and SA Post Office). Its asymmetrical design and use of hexagonal slabs were intended to complement the nearby Unisa building. The Lukasrand tower dominates the Pretoria skyline to this day. In this print, it is viewed from Cilliers Str, looking South.
